With his roots in Assam, northeast India,
the musical nomad, Jitwam has cemented
his place in the lineage of great Indian
composers, merging global sounds with
modern production techniques, creating a unique blend of some of the warmest hip hop, r&b, house, jazz and soul fusion.
Jitwam officially released his second album HONEYCOMB on !K7 / Tartelet Records in May 2019 to critical acclaim, listed as Gilles Peterson’s ‘Best of 2019 ‘ on BBC 6Music.
Of everywhere and nowhere, Jitwam’s
music draws influence from a litany of
iconoclasts including, but not limited to RD Burman, Moondog, The Velvet
Underground, Yayoi Kusama, Jay
Electronica, J Dilla, Moodymann, Leon
Thomas, Madlib and Asha Bhosle.
