ARTIST BIO: AXO: A music collector from as far back as he can remember, a design professional, a motorcycle builder, Akshay Hegde aka AXO, has been sharing his love for dance music and its diversity by playing extensively and exclusively on the underground circuit, professionally for 8 years. His foundations of deejaying and electronic music production were laid at the ILM Academy, Bangalore, where he headed the graphic design department. Under their banner he made his debut as a Dj with weekly residencies, at ITC Fortune & The Liquid Lounge at Ista in Bangalore, playing his eclectic selection of indie dance, tech house and electronica. Determined to widen the acceptance of non-mainstream dance music, a string of collaborative residencies with fellow local underground Djs, at The Beach, Pebbles and The Love Shack followed. These initial years were explorations of groovy Indie Dance, Nu Disco; broody moody Deep House and Techno. His creative sets led to one off gigs at The Sanctum Club, Coco Bongo, Viva Ariba, Raneo Village, Bangalore, The Purple Room in Chennai, Café La Musica & Psybar in Goa. A highlight from this time was a thumbs-up from personal hero and inspiration, Timo Maas, after an opening set for him late in 2012 at Pebbles. In 2013 AXO found a new home at The Humming Tree, Bangalore. A venue dedicated to pushing quality music across genres, it was here where he thrived exploring the depths of disco, house, soulful house, electronica and drum & bass. He performed numerous solo gigs and shared performances with artists like Nucleya, Unnayanna, Masta Justy, Madboy Mink & Thallavattam among others. Impressed with the uniqueness of his sound and his ability to connect to a diverse and discerning audience, he progressed to a monthly Saturday night residency at the venue. His love for the music and his strong belief that Indian deejays on the underground circuit had much to offer, led to the birth of Beat Repeat. A property conceptualized and curated by him, with strong support from The Humming Tree, showcasing some of the best Indian deejays dedicated to pushing their chosen genres of dance music coupled with emerging talent from new media and the visual arts sphere, to create an engaging audiovisual experience. Late 2013, AXO forged alliances with the newly formed ModeM Networks. Playing extensively through 2014 for their properties The Pink X at Pebble, Fly at The Royal Orchid and Sundaze at The Tao Terraces in Bangalore where he gained popularity for his innovative, marathon genre defying sets. Mid 2014, he teamed up with fellow conspirer Dj Nik and started Four By Four. A weekly Friday night residency dedicated to the mature partier through the exploration of the roots of dance music in Disco and House at The Love Shack, Bangalore. His dedication and consistency led to his residency with the blueFROG bangalore in June 2015 up until Dec 2016. Apart from his role as a resident, he was actively involved in programing electronic artists/djs and curating properties like ABSOLUT HOUSE, TECHNO TICKET, SINE LANGUAGE (drum & bass) & JUICED (disco/funk). With regular playtime, diverse influences in music and all the inspiration that comes with being part of a venue like blueFROG this period without doubt was one of his most valuable, refining both his selection of music and understanding of the dance-floor. Another highlight of 2016 was his debut at GOMADRAS, one of India’s premiere underground music festivals, held at Chennai. 2017 saw his return to the freelance circuit, with regular gigs for one of Bangalore's longest-running exclusively underground property SUNDAZE at Tao Terraces, UNDERGROOV & SUBSTRATUM at the Rabbit Hole, Warehouse and one-off gigs at Blue Frog Bangalore, Pebble, The Spice Terrace Jw Marriot, Fava UB City & Cirrus to name a few. www.facebook.com/axolovemusic www.soundcloud.com/a-x-o ALINA: With a gifted ear for underground sounds Alina is a rarity in the modern dance music scene. She was mentored by Bangalore's house music duo Knique and Jeza at 15. Always eager to push her sonic boundaries, she has opened for artists such as Stellar Om source, Carl Finlow, Valesuchi and more.
