Traditional & Modern Jazz with RYTHEM A NING * The Trio: Rythem-A-Ning is a classic piano trio that features some of the finest jazz musicians in India. The name is derived from the famous Thelonious Monk composition. The aim of the project is to perform uncommon jazz standards that are equally (or perhaps more) beautiful as the common ones. Rythem Bansal is a professional pianist, composer and educator based in New Delhi, India. He has been a recipient of merit-based scholarships from prestigious Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) for the Five-Week Summer Program; Delhi School of Music, Global Music Institute and Korean Cultural Centre. Although started with self-teaching, he later studied piano from John Raphael and completed Grade 8 in Piano with merit. Drawn to jazz and improvisational music, he also took lessons from Utsav Lal and Jacob Damelin (Canada). He has won numerous music competitions during his time in high school. He performs with his trio every Sunday and Monday at The Piano Man Jazz Club and hosts the jam sessions over there. He is a former piano faculty at Blue Notes School of Music, One World College of Music, Performers Collective (formerly Gurgaon School of Music) and is currently teaching privately at his residence. Apart from the solo piano performances, Rythem has performed with great international artists such as George Brooks (USA), Rainer Pusch (Germany), Matteo Fraboni (Italy), James Morton (UK), Quentin Moore (USA), David Soin Tapesser (UK) and great Indian musicians like Pranai Gurung, Vasundhara Vee, Sentirenla Lucia, Shubh Saran, Sanjay Divecha, Kartikeya Srivastava and Aditya Balani to name a few and he keeps playing with numerous musicians and bands in the city which has gained him the reputation of being one of the most in-demand jazz pianists in India. He has performed at some prestigious music festivals such as Goa International Jazz Festival, MTV India Music Summit Festival (1st Edition), Jaipur Jazz & Blues Festival, Pune International Jazz Utsav, Delhi International Jazz Festival and Giants of Jazz Festival. He has also performed in various corporate events like India Design ID (2018 & 2019) and venues like NCPA (Tata Theatre), St. Regis Mumbai, Fairmont, Alila Fort Palace, Neemrana Fort Palace, India International Centre, JW Marriott, ITC Maurya, Leela Palace, etc and clubs like The Piano Man (NCR), B Flat (Bangalore), The Quarter (Mumbai), Soho House (Mumbai). He finds himself drawn to jazz music due to its emphasis on improvisation, which he believes allows musicians to be more creative and expressive. It's his belief that playing jazz is important to musicians of any genre, as it opens up their aural abilities and encourages them to develop musical maturity. Abhinav Khokhar is one of the finest bass players that the city of New Delhi has to offer, he has been collaborating and writing for musicians from various genres on music for many years. Aditya Dutta is a part of The Piano Man’s in-house band for Sunday Musician Mixers, performing and collaborating as a sessions drummer in the Delhi independent music circuit for the past 1 year.
