Event Details
The Isheeta Chakrvarty Collective is an eclectic jazz fusion project with a heavy focus on Indian traditional music among others, married to a context of jazz. It is an evolving sound representing Isheeta's various influences and backgrounds, attempting to cook them in a dynamic pot.
The Collective debuted at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) on the occasion of International Jazz Day 2019, opening for tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain. They also performed at Nrityagram, the dance village set up by Odissi danseuse Protima Gauri, upon the felicitation of Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee and artistic director for Nrityagram, Surupa Sen. Other notable performances include a performance at the iconic Barefoot Cafe, for the prestigious Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust for their celebration of the 77th birth anniversary of Dr. Neelan Tiruchelvan in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
