Mumbai based event agency - Kranti Art Theory celebrate 4 years of their existence with a South Asia Tour for Denham Audio & Mani Festo (UK). Krunk Kuluture Label Boss Rafiki and 2Sensitive's Abhi Meer will be kicking off the festivities on the night with a special b2b set.
Denham Audio
In a blizzard of breakbeats, b-lines and acid hooks, Denham Audio has brought new urgency and vitality to the modern rave scene. The sound he’s pushing is rooted in the legacy of UK hardcore, but those foundational sounds and styles are given a thorough spruce up, feeding into the buoyant areas of exploration happening between 140 and 160 BPM. Releases have been coming thick and fast, from early outings on Nineteen Ninety Four and Artifice through to a blistering run on WNCL, Frendzone! (alongside Violet), Lobster Theremin, Sneaker Social Club and more. Across these 12”s you can hear every shred of influence spilling out – from the upfront hardcore and jungle through to hip hop and reggae, and beyond the confines of music into sci-fi and anime.
As well as a relentless charge of rave-ready EPs and DJ sets spanning the UK and as far as Seoul, Tokyo, Berlin, New York and elsewhere, the Denham Audio pressure also piles into the Club Glow collective. Alongside Borai, LMajor and Mani Festo, Denham is presenting a communal front which first manifested as a tape series and now spans 12” drops, a monthly session on Balamii Radio and coordinated blitzes on appropriately sized dancehalls. It’s a natural extension of Denham’s solo endeavours, succinctly captured on the SNKRX05 12” as “16v hatchback breakbeat NRG kickin' it out of your Kenwood system.” We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
Mani Festo
Caught in the provocative tension between futurism and tradition, Mani Festo is a champion for the transportive, perception-altering power of club music. Already, his towering catalogue of rough and ready sonics counts labels like WNCL, Rupture and Hooversound as regular stop offs, while his presence in the Club Glow collective alongside Borai, Denham Audio and LMajor presents a vital unified front at the vanguard of contemporary rave. As an accomplished visual artist, Mani Festo designs the Club Glow aesthetic as well as collaborating with notable brands such as the EQ50 collective and seminal
London party Rupture (where he’s also a regular guest on the decks)..
The Mani Festo muse is front and centre in his music – a darkly seductive atmosphere drawing heavily on the relationship between hardcore-rooted music and vintage sci-fi. At one extreme he embraces synthesis as a vessel for evocative, mind-melting moments between the blink of the strobe, while at the other his dynamic sound is anchored by a fierce commitment to heavyweight rhythm craft. From the dedicated ethic of breakbeat science to the punchy machine funk of electro, there’s no single overbearing method to Mani Festo’s madness, just a commitment to shock and awe under the influence of the soundsystem.
